This translation is mentioned by Nicolás Antonio, who reports a note found in Bibliotheca Belgica Manuscripta by Antonius Sanderus. According to Sanderus, the Belgian nobleman Joannes Gislenius Bultelius owned a manuscript entitled Los ocho libros de Thucydides Atheniense, que trata de las guerras griegas entre los Athenienses y los pueblos de la Morea, attributed to Juan de Castro Salinas. Although the work is traditionally ascribed to Castro Salinas, scholarly consensus – following both Sanderus and Nicolás Antonio – tends to identify the translator as Francisco de Enzinas, who may have used the name as a pseudonym. J. Sánchez Lasso de la Vega, however, noting that the manuscript has not been seen since, has proposed that the translation might in fact be the work of Diego Gracián, who is known to have produced a version of Thucydides – see Gracián 1564.
