August Horneffer (1875-1955), philosopher, translator. Horneffer earned his doctorate in Berlin in 1898 with a dissertation on Johann Rosenmüller and later worked at the Nietzsche Archive in Weimar alongside his brother Ernst. He translated Greek and Latin authors, and became involved in Freemasonry, publishing influential works such as Der Bund der Freimaurer (1913) and Symbolik der Mysterienbünde (1916). As a lecturer and editor, he was involved in the reorganization of German Freemasonry after both World Wars. He has also translated Herodotus and Plato. Kalliope-Verbund
