Kenneth James Dover (1920-2010), classical scholar, Professor of Greek at the University of St Andrews from 1955 to 1976. Dover served in the Royal Artillery during World War II. His scholarly work encompassed various aspects of Greek studies, including prose stylistics, Aristophanic comedy, and sexual ethics. Beyond his academic pursuits, he held several prominent positions: he served as President of Corpus Christi College, Oxford (1976-1986), President of the British Academy (1978-1981), and Chancellor of the University of St Andrews (1981-2005).
