Content: The Melian Dialogue

Alfonso Gómez-Lobo (1940-2011), philosopher and translator who specialised in ancient Greek philosophy, ethics and bioethics. Educated in Chile, Greece and Germany, Gómez-Lobo earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Munich in 1966 and later taught at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and Georgetown University, where he became Ryan Family Professor of Metaphysics and Moral Philosophy. His research focused on Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, as well as on natural-law theory.

Translation of Thuc. 5.84-116 (The Melian Dialogue), with an introduction. The translation is based on the text established by Stuart Jones-Powell 1942. Published in the journal Centro de Estudios Públicos, 44.
