Intorno a una Bibbia in volgare: domina Giuditta, il suo testamento e Giovanni da Asolo (Padova, 1302)
Abstract
In the fall of 1302, the Paduan domina Giuditta, daughter of the late Plenerio de Arsalone, bequeathed a vernacular Bible to the nuns of SS. Biagio and Cataldo of Giudecca. Through the finding out of documents preserved in the State Archives of Padua, the essay highlights the crucial role of her will’s executor the dominican friar Giovanni da Asolo. The friar, also lector, turns out to have been active in Venice for the soul of Giuditta in the same years when his religious order was carrying out a cultural campaign.
