Abstract
In the first part of this contribution, after introducing Folk Linguistics by defining its domain of competence, we will try to draw an outline of the advantages that can derive from its application to language teaching education from several perspectives. In the second part two case studies, set in Australia, will be presented and discus- sed, which should provide an example of what stated in the introductory paragraphs.
