abstract

The subject of this article is the semiotic interpretation of James Joyce’s Ulysses and its Armenian translation. The latter is a significant achievement in literary translation not only because the original text is one of the unique masterpieces of world literature, but also because the Armenian translation is so masterfully done that it is worthy of being placed next to the original. The present article aims to study colour as a socio-cultural multi-layered sign in the ‘Nausicaa’ episode in James Joyce’s Ulysses and the ways it is translated into Armenian. The study is conducted by lingua-stylistic, lingua-poetic, and literary methods.
