Swedenborg: architetture di un visionario

Abstract

This essay offers an architectural delineation of the universe according to the mystic Emanuel Swedenborg, following his descriptions of houses, towns, and environment in his visions of other worlds. Drawing on the concept of ‘correspondences’ and verifying its influence on August Strindberg, we can test – specifically through the image of the house – Karl Åke Kärnell’s hypothesis that the writer’s search for analogies only applies to very personal ‘horizontal’ correspondences in the context of modernistic writing.
