La ortología de Lope como herramienta de edición
Entre la teoría y la práctica
Abstract
This chapter aims to offer several keys to analyze Lope de Vega’s orthoepy, particularly in relation to the field of critical edition. Specifically, I will focus on vowel sequences produced between contiguous words. My two main objectives are the following: on the one hand, to establish precise and exhaustive metrical rules, based on the application of some theoretical foundations that allow refining Poesse’s indications; on the other hand, to illustrate the procedure that Lope’s editors should follow when detecting and correcting errors concerning orthoepy. To do so, I will start from practical cases taken from two plays by Lope (El Grao de Valencia and Los bandos de Sena)
