La emendatio ope ingenii: apuntes sobre una praxis irregular
Fenomenología de la atracción entre lecciones
Abstract
This essay aims to reflect on the criteria governing the emendatio ope ingenii in single witness traditions, differentiating between the two phases of error detection and conjectural correction. To this end, different types of errors produced by the attraction between lessons are taken into consideration. The cases analyzed come both from printed and manuscript playtexts in which pericope repetitions occur within the line and in rhyme. The essay also studies the behavior of the transmitters (copyists and typesetters) and the critical editors when assessing and amending certain loci.
