It begins by exploring the core concept of ‘social meaning making’, drawing on key theoretical advancements from sociolinguistics, linguistic anthropology, and social semiotics. Additionally, the chapter addresses the formulation of a ‘semiotic grammar’ as a central research objective, highlighting the analytical challenges inherent in this endeavour.
