Chapter | Quale vulnerabilità? Il punto di vista di persone in migrazione
Abstract
This chapter discusses migrants’ views on how the concept of ‘vulnerability’ is conceived in institutional settings, in policies and norms that adopt this perspective. This critique is based on observations regarding the tensions of daily life in reception centres, the difficult relationship with other migrants, with reception workers, and in particular the contrasts with authorities, their practices and decisions. The lack of an adequate shared notion of vulnerability capable of encompassing the totality of its possible applications strongly hampers the integration and reception process. The chapter compares migrants’ views from Italy, Germany, Norway, Belgium, Canada, Uganda and Lebanon where the Horizon 2020 project VULNER was conducted.
