abstract

One point we had yet to make is that the art of the Saidu Frieze is recognisable at a glance. Later on we will look into the distinctive formal characteristics. Should the formal element not help us recognise the hand of the Master of Saidu, the choice of material certainly would. The entire Frieze is sculpted in very soft, lightly talcose, but compact chlorite schist with a characteristic dark sage green.
