La place de la littérature chinoise et le rôle de la traduction à l’époque de la globalisation

Un regard aux théories chinoises courantes

Abstract

This paper aims at taking stock of recent trends in the Chinese literary field, shedding light on the strategies adopted to exploit the renewed concept of world literature. These strategies – which parallel strategies adopted by the publishing and political field – include a nationalistic approach to strengthen China’s soft-power positions in terms of translation and cultural communication. On the one hand, Chinese scholars embrace the utopian vision embedded in the concept of Weltliteratur from Goethe and Marx to Damrosch and Moretti; on the other hand, they promote a new approach to comparative literature that overcomes the limits of the post-colonial struggle against Eurocentrism, accepting a temporary ‘Anglophone model’ for the global circulation and reception of Chinese literature.
