Abstract
The paper presents ten years of maritime archaeological investigations organized both underwater and on land by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. During these missions, students have the chance to train in the discipline, which is an opportunity seldom offered by Italian universities. Underwater investigations have been organized by the author in Italy (Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia Romagna, Calabria and Sicily) and in Croatia on shipwrecks dated from the Roman Age to the 19th century. The most recent project of research is Le rotte del marmo, focused on the study of the cargos of marble blocks of the Roman Age. The author underlines the critical aspect of the lack of laboratory and funds for the treatment and conservation of artefacts recovered from the water.
