Abstract
The volume has come to life from the international meeting promoted by the Laboratorio per lo Studio Letterario del Fumetto in Venice, the first international congress on comics in Spain Historieta o Cómic. Biografía de la narración gráfica en España. Through a selection of unpublished thematic essays that form part of the publication, an organic framework of the phenomenon is constructed and an opportunity for discussion is provided to open up horizons for interdisciplinary research into an unusual object of study but one that is susceptible to differentiated approaches, assuming the Hispanic area as a centre of production and reception of expressions characterised by the interaction between text and image and by the crossover between heterogeneous languages.
