Allevamenti intensivi e insostenibilità dello sfruttamento animale: una prospettiva scientifica

Abstract

Climate and ecological emergencies are providing a new perspective to the discussion on the intensive animal farming. Science may give an effective contribution to clarify why animal farming is unsustainable. In this chapter, I present some recent scientific results aimed at defining the role of animal exploitation in the degradation of the global ecosystem. The scientific perspective can be effectively placed side by side the ethical, social, philosophical and health issues traditionally related to the search for animal rights and well-being.
