Abstract

In this chapter, we examine the prolonged co-existence of ceramic-using hunter-gatherers and early farmers in the study region. Contrary to expectations, there is little to no evidence of hunter-gatherers adopting farming or herding practices through interaction with early farmers. Interestingly, the earliest ceramic ware appears to have entered the region through hunter-gatherer exchange networks, slightly preceding the arrival of pottery brought by early farmers.
