Chapter | The Restoration of Manuscripts as a Source of History
Abstract
The research focuses on the conservation treatments carried out on the Greek manuscripts held in the Fondo Antico of the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana (Vat. gr, 1-1217), established between the first half of the 15th and the first quarter of the 17th century. The inspection of the treatments carried out on the volumes, including their rebinding can become significant for the history of the manuscripts themselves, but can also offer further information about the internal affairs of the Library. It is therefore evident that the choice of the book to be restored has historical significance.
