Volume 20 | Edited book | Eccellenze cafoscarine nella storia del Dipartimento di Economia
Abstract
In 2018, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice celebrated the 150th anniversary of its foundation. In 2021 the Department of Economics celebrated its first 10 years in the new configuration, following the statutory reform due to the Gelmini law (nr. 240 of 30 December 2010). This volume is a tribute to some excellent cafoscarini who have made the history of Ca’ Foscari but also the cultural heritage of the Department of Economics, without claiming to be exhaustive, but with the desire to tell something about Ca’ Foscari excellences.
Nine academic figures are described: from the economist Francesco Ferrara (founder of the Royal School of Commerce) to the administrative Feliciano Benvenuti (Rector from 1974 to 1982), from the mathematician Mario Volpato to the expert in private law Lycia Contursi-Lisi Gardani, who with their scientific, human and professional contributions, are still today a source of pride and strong inspiration for the Department. The collection includes the profiles of 9 professors who taught at the Venetian university: Francesco Ferrara (1810-1900), Primo Lanzoni (1862-1921), Gino Luzzatto (1878-1964), Silvio Trentin (1885-1944), Giulio La Volpe (1909-1996), Mario Volpato (1915-2000), Feliciano Benvenuti (1916-1999), Lycia Contursi-Lisi Gardani (1920-2004), Giulio Partesotti (1937-2004).
