Murray Graeme Dickson (1911-1997), educator, translator, and adviser in international education. Dickson served in the British Prison Service (Borstals) from 1935 to 1940 and later joined the British Army during the Second World War. In 1947 Dickson entered the Colonial Service and held a series of educational leadership posts in Sarawak. After retiring from colonial service, he served as a UNESCO adviser on educational planning to the Government of Lesotho (1967-1968). Dickson was also a writer and translator: in addition to translations of medieval and classical texts, he authored works on Kant and on the peoples and culture of Sarawak.
