Holger Friis Johansen (1927-1996), classical philologist and academic. Friis Johansen served as Professor of Classical Philology at Aarhus University from 1961 until his death and was prorector of the university in 1973-1974. His research focused on Greek literature, Attic drama, and philology, and he contributed to editorial projects such as the Lexicon Mediae Latinitatis and the journal Classica et Mediaevalia. As a translator, Friis Johansen rendered a number of ancient Greek texts into Danish, including selections from Pindar, Aeschylus, and Thucydides, often accompanied by introductions and notes for educational purposes.
