Edward Gustin Coy (1844-1904), classical scholar and secondary school teacher. Coy graduated from Yale University; in 1873 he was appointed instructor in Greek and Latin at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, where he taught until 1892. He spent part of 1883 studying abroad in Berlin, Munich, Rome, and Greece, pursuing archaeological and classical studies. In 1892, he became headmaster of The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut. Coy authored and edited classical instructional works, including 'Greek readers' and selections designed to introduce students to Greek prose.

Greek text and notes on selected – and adapted – passages from the History, with annotated extracts from Xenophon's Anabasis and Hellenica: Thuc. 1.101-103 (Thasos' Rebellion and Siege of Ithome); 3.81-85 (The Stasis at Corcyra); 7.75-87 (Athens' Defeat in Sicily).
