Szemelvények Thukydidesből fordította Szilasi Móricz

Móricz Szilasi (1854-1905), classical philologist and linguist. Szilasi studied at the University of Budapest, and later pursued further training in Indo-European linguistics and classical philology at German universities. He taught at secondary schools in Budapest and later served as senior instructor at the Eötvös József Collegium. In 1903 he was appointed professor of Hungarian linguistics and comparative linguistics at the University of Kolozsvár, where he also served as dean of the Faculty of Philosophy. Szilasi authored and translated several works on classical and linguistic subjects, including Hungarian translations of Curtius’ History of Greece and Plutarch’s Parallel Lives, as well as educational editions of Latin authors for gymnasium use. He also produced a Hungarian translation of Thucydides’ Selections (Szemelvények Thukydidesből, 1891), intended for secondary education, accompanied by commentary and pedagogical apparatus. His scholarly work included studies in Finno-Ugric linguistics and comparative grammar.
