Mihail-Vasile Jakotă (1917-2007), jurist. Jakotă graduated in law from the University of Iași in 1940, where he also obtained his doctorate with a dissertation on the Law of the Twelve Tables. He held academic positions at the Faculty of Law in Iași from 1943 onward, becoming Professor in 1969 and later Professor Emeritus. He taught Roman law, private international law, and international trade law. Jakotă was a correspondent member of the Academy of Social and Political Sciences of Romania (1972) and received official recognition for his academic career. He also engaged in translation work in the field of classical literature, including a Romanian translation of Plutarch’s Parallel Lives, reflecting his broader interest in Greco-Roman legal and intellectual traditions.
