Karl Hude (1860-1936), classical philologist, author of influential editions of Thucydides, Herodotus, Xenophon and Lysias. Hude studied philology and history at the University of Copenhagen and earned his doctorate in 1888 with a dissertation on Thucydides' textual criticism. From 1919 to 1935, he was Professor of Classical Philology at the University of Copenhagen. In 1903, he was elected a member of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences. Kraks Blå Bog

Referred to as the editio maior. Two volumes. 2nd edition Leizpig 1913-1925. The so called editio maxima was published between 1898-1901, while the so called editio minor was published in 1903 – see Hude 1898-1901 and Hude 1903.
