Amedeo Angelo Maria Curto Peyron (1785-1870), classical philologist, orientalist, and priest. Peyron was Professor of Oriental Languages at the University of Turin from 1815. In 1848, he became a Senator of the Kingdom of Sardinia and held various positions in the fields of education and cultural heritage. He was a member of the Accademia della Crusca, director of the University Library, and rector of the University of Turin (1826-1829). He also served as a member of the Magistrato della Riforma (1844), the Higher Council of Public Education, and the Commission for Antiquities and Fine Arts (1848). Open to Germanic philological influences, his work contributed to the renewal and modernization of classical studies in Turin. Treccani
