Translation with commentary of four speeches from the History: Thuc. 1.80-85 (The Speech of Archidamus); 2.35-46 (Pericles' Funeral Oration); 4.59-64 (The speech of Hermocrates); 4.85-87 (The speech of Brasidas). The work was conceived as an Einladungsschrift zur feierlichen Preisevertheilung an der Königl. Studienanstalt bei St. Anna, that is, an invitation booklet for the award ceremony at the Royal Institute of Studies of St. Anna in Augsburg.
