Jean-François Stiévenart (1794-1860), Professor of Greek literature at the Faculties of Letters in Strasbourg and Dijon. Stiévenart was a corresponding member of the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres. He translated Demosthenes, Theophrastus, Horace, and worked extensively on Greek oratory.

Stiévenart published in 1850 a preface to a translation of Thucydides, which, however, he never completed.
