Two volumes, with, as introduction, The Life of Thucydides by Tommaso Porcacchi (1530-1585), humanist, translator, and geographer of the late Renaissance. Porcacchi became active in Venice as a writer and editor associated with the prominent publisher Girolamo Porro. He contributed to the diffusion of ancient historiography in the vernacular.
