Light on Titian's ‘Hidden’ Signature
Abstract
This essay is about the ‘how’, the ‘where’ and the ‘why’ Tiziano included his own signature in (not only on) some of his well-known works. The critical review of these significant details has been done with the support of painted and written sources that those signatures themselves mention, describe and, on some occasions, make them into myths.
