Research Article | Sacrificial Calendar of the Attic deme of Thorikos
Abstract
The inscription is a sacrificial calendar from the Attic deme of Thorikos. The main text provides a catalogue of monthly sacrifices, highlighting the religious richness of the Attic demes and their connection to central cults. The concluding section contains the oath taken by local officials, in which they pledge to account their duties in accordance with local decrees. The ultimate purpose of the calendar is to ensure harmonious relations with the deities as established by the will of the fellow demesmen.
