Intersezioni di specie: il femminismo e la questione animale

crossmark logo

Abstract

This text discusses the analogies initially mobilized by feminism to talk about women and animals, or women as animals, from both a white and a racialized perspective, and considers the shift that replaced analogy first with the recognition of differences in relation, then with reflection on the complexity of intersections between oppressions, employing a fundamental tool of feminism, such as intersectional analysis, in an anti-speciesist key. What emerges is the importance of an ecosystemic and situated analysis of social relations with respect to the differential exercise of power over human and non-human bodies.
