Da Eppone a Magno: i vescovi della diocesi di Oderzo tra mito, racconti, documenti e dati archeologici
Abstract
This paper analyzes the testimonies related to the bishops of Oderzo cited by written sources for whom a residence in the ancient Roman city is conceivable: Epone, Marciano, Floriano, Titian and Magnus. The testimonies are mostly much later than at the time when the bishops lived and present considerable problems of interpretation. There is very little and extremely incomplete archaeological evidence. The overall picture, however, suggests the importance and prestige of the primitive Opitergina episcopal seat whose legacy was collected, with different methods and purposes, initially by Cittanova, later by Ceneda.
