From Equi to Romans. Processes of Religious ‘Romanisation’
Abstract
This paper deals with the sacred contexts of the area once inhabited by the Aequi (above all Carsoli and Alba Fucens), analysing in particular the votive deposits associated with them. The application of an artisan’s perspective to the study of votive material, whether in bronze or terracotta, has revealed a gradual change, also in terms of production, between the pre-Roman and the Roman phases. This change, which still needs to be placed in a clear chronological context, could also be connected to the foundation of the Latin colonies of Carsioli and Alba Fucens.
