Chapter | Un nuovo relitto a San Nicoletto (Lido di Venezia)
Abstract
In the late spring of 2021 a new historic wreck was discovered just off the coast of Venice Lido. The presence of the remains of a new shipwreck, close to the site of the sinking of the brig Hellmuth, had never been documented until now. From 2022 to 2023, two campaigns of investigations and underwater archaeological excavations took place, which allowed to investigate a good part of the wreck and its cargo and to date it to the second half of the nineteenth century.
