Chapter | Linguaggio sensibile al genere e sistema morfologico: un confronto tra tedesco e italiano
Abstract
In this chapter, proposals for gender-sensitive language in German and Italian are compared and analysed from a morphological perspective. The focus lies on forms containing a special character, which have been spreading for the past few years (an asterisk, a colon, an underscore in German, e.g. Kolleg*innen; an asterisk or a schwa in Italian, e.g. collegh*). Their (possible) integration within the morphological system of both languages is discussed, paying attention to critical points and still open questions. Graph(emat)ic and phonetic/phonological issues related to these forms are also touched on.
