Chapter | 4 • A Mosaic of Quotations: Intertextual Relationships in the Great Hymns and Prayers
Abstract
The concept of intertextuality is becoming increasingly widespread in the field of Assyriology. There is now a general consensus that texts should not be considered in isolated terms, but always in relation to other texts and contexts. In this respect, the Great Hymns and Prayers show intertextual parallels with texts of various genres. This chapter offers examples of such intertextuality.
