3 • The Great Prayer to Ištar
Abstract
This chapter provides the critical edition of the Great Prayer to Ištar. The recent identification of a Late Babylonian fragment allows for the reconstruction of a significant part of the text. Although the prayer to Ištar is a homogeneous and original text, it shows interesting parallels with other hymns and prayers to Ištar.
