Per una storiografia di genere degli Hakka: le donne nelle gazzette locali e negli annali

Abstract
This contribution deals with the gendered historiography of Hakka women, by examining local gazetteers published between the late 19th century and the contemporary period in the border area between the provinces of western Fujian, southern Jiangxi and western Guangdong. In analysing the social and cultural positioning of Hakka women, the author highlights the dual nature of local gazetteers as historical sources – an intersection between the ideology propagated by the central government and the aspirations of the common people. Rethinking the relationship between state ideology and community self-representation, rural Hakka women emerge not as social constructions of superimposed ideology, but as social agents embedded in history.
