L’uso di materiale edito nel libro di Lettere di Aretino
abstract
The paper focuses on a section of the first book of Aretino’s Lettere, a small group of dedication letters. Comparing the first versions of the dedications and the version prepared for the collection of letters, we can acquire new information on how Aretino (and his editors) worked on the letters to insert them in the book that started the tradition of the printed collections of letters in the sixteenth century. Most of the changes here analysed pertain to the content of the letters, but also formal variations are described and examined.
