The Voice of the Descendants

The article investigates the traces that Lebanese culture has left in the novels of two Lebanese-Mexican writers: En el verano, la tierra by Carlos Martínez Assad and Las hojas muertas by Barbara Jacobs. First, the article briefly examines the historical background of Lebanese migration to Mexico between XIX and XX centuries and it observes the two novels in general and the profile of the authors. Secondly, it carries out the analysis of some shared themes related to the process of reconstruction of identity.
