A Man and a Woman Driving in Persia (1905)
abstract
This short paper offers a comparison of two accounts of the same trip done by a group of Europeans who travelled to Persia at the beginning of the twentieth century, one of the first trips ever done by car. These accounts were written by a well-known journalist and an even more famous French writer of the Belle Époque. While the latter’s account is centered upon her aesthetic feelings with no chronicle whatsoever, the former’s account is a mere chronicle of events.
