Abstract

This analysis focuses on four key questions about the link between vulnerability, gender, and rights. The first examines whether it's appropriate to define women as inherently vulnerable: data shows that women, globally, face poverty, exclusion, violence, but many feminist groups reject this framing. The second question delves into the very definition of vulnerability: drawing on Fineman's proposal, it considers the idea of a universal, inherent human vulnerability. Finally, the third explores the link between women's vulnerability and their rights, analyzing how the legal system has responded to the social challenges women face.
