4 • Local Perspectives: Archaeobotanical Studies in Yunnan
Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of known sites in Yunnan with evidence for plant remains (macro-botanical and isotope data) between the third millennium BCE to the early first millennium CE. It briefly covers Palaeolithic sites to discuss the shift from a hunter-gatherer to a producing economy and includes details on excavation and material culture for each site to trace possible cultural connections within and beyond Yunnan.
