Abstract

The emergence of manga in Spain at the beginning of the nineties marked a break in the reading habits of comic book fans in this country. However, this meant not only an expansion of the market and the number of titles published, but the introduction of an aesthetic linked to those of Japanese comics. This study provides a historical overview of the arrival of manga and editorial explosion that led to the emergence of new authors and titles, a parallel chronology of national authors creations that follow the guidelines of the Japanese publications in order to show how the original texts definitively influence the evolution of the Spanish manga will be established.
