Le nuove migrazioni italiane in Argentina
abstract
Nowadays, Italian migrants who reach now South America, and especially Argentina, are looking for a job and a better life. However, they neither consider themselves as ‘emigrants’, nor identify as belonging to a nation. Their identity is shaped through multiple identifications, ranging from small communities to Europe, from individualism to love for mankind, from de- fense of the universal principles to the conservation of their personal convictions. This article, besides investigating the economic reasons of their departures, seeks also to provide an inter- pretation of ‘inner’ (or cultural) processes that push many Italians to abandon their country.
