Abstract
Dei viaggi di Messer Marco Polo – a version of Il Milione compiled by Giovan Battista Ramusio for the Navigationi et viaggi (1559) – is now accessible in an annotated critical edition, conceived in the form of a hypertextual application for the Web, thanks to which the ‘reader’ will be able to access simultaneously to the continuous visualisation of the text (in the critical edition); to the visualisation of the philological commentary, organised according to the division into three books; to the full retrieval of the seven versions of Il Milione (three of which are unpublished) directly/indirectly in play on Ramusio's table; to a body of cards (which can be activated in pop-ups) that provide historical-geographical information (with a link to Google-Maps) on significant people, places and objects in the text. The intellectual project was coordinated by Eugenio Burgio, Marina Buzzoni and Antonella Ghersetti; Samuela Simion (also co-editor), Alvise Andreose, Alvaro Barbieri, Giampiero Bellingeri, Angelo Cattaneo, Marco Ceresa, Giacomo Corazzol, Simone Cristoforetti, Daniele Cuneo, Paolo De Troia, Giuseppe Mascherpa, Laura Minervini, Maria Piccoli, Elisabetta Ragagnin, Irene Reginato, Fabio Romanini, Vito Santoliquido, Federico Squarcini collaborated (in various ways). The intellectual design and digital implementation of the edition were funded by the 2011 ‘University Research Projects’ Programme of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice; the digital architecture was designed and brought to effect by Francesca Anzalone (Netlife srl) and Damiano Bolzoni.
