dc.description.abstract	A considerable number of structural marble elements taken from Classical or Byzantine buildings can be found all through the complex of the küllyie of the Ulu Camii of Manisa, built in 1374 (776 H) by Ishak Bey of the Selçiuk Saruhan family. The most important group of spolia is represented by column capitals, both Classical and Byzantine. While the Classical specimens belong mostly to the third century, the Christian ones are of the early and middle byzantine period. The latter is a very heterogeneous collection that includes the so-called Theodosian capitals (fifth-sixth centuries) and several impost-capitals of the eleventh century. The essay pays particular attention to a rare capital of the Ionic impost type, which can be dated to the first years of the sixth century.
