abstract

The chapter analyzes the employment status of the Roma in Italy, which is dramatically negative: high levels of unemployment, inactivity and undeclared work, especially among the inhabitants of the camps and those engaged in traditional work activities carried out autonomously; strong occupational segregation, concentrated in the figures of workers, day labourers, cleaners and domestic work; prevalence of precarious forms of employment and wages below the national average; almost insignificant number of pensioners; the absence of policies and actions for the job.
